How to use VLC as a Webcam





     If you don't have a webcam software just use vlc as a webcam software
you can take snapshots and even record video from your webcam with vlc

First

  • Install your webcam and the drivers
  • Fire up VLC





  • Goto Media > Open Capture Device and then select your webcam from the dropdown menu



  • Finetune your cam settings from the Advanced Options (Optional)
  • Now click play

     
 Taking snaps and recording video is easy with vlc just enable this toolbar from View > Advanced Controls from vlc





    • Save playlist to file for shortcut ;)
     

    • Vlc's Default location for saving snaps "My Pictures" for windows Xp and "Pictures" for Windows 7 and for videos "My videos" in xp and "Videos" in windows 7
    Vlc can even open up your "tv capture card" from vlc just use the same steps to open your capture device.
